If Anglesea coach Jordan Keras has his way, recently retired AFL star Taylor Adams would be pulling on a blue and white jumper at some stage late in the Bellarine season.

Keras confirmed speculation following Saturday’s win over Newcomb that the reigning premier had contact with his former Geelong Falcons teammate since Adams called time on his 229-game career after suffering another hamstring injury playing for Sydney in the VFL earlier this month.

However, it’s understood that a clause in his AFL contract means Adams can’t play at any level until after October 31.

“Tay reached out to me; I don’t know whether he was going through a bit of a crisis when he decided that he was actually retiring, and he then felt like he could give back a little bit,” Keras told K rock Football.

“I think there’s some obligation to his contract that holds him to the AFL (this year).

“And next year… not too sure what it looks like.

“But, we’ll wait and see. Hopefully, he’s playing Round 1 in the blue and white.”

Drafted by GWS with pick 13 in the 2011 National Draft ahead of their entry into the AFL, Adams made 31 appearances in two seasons for the Giants.

He was traded to Collingwood at the end of 2013 as a direct swap for Heath Shaw, and made 175 appearances in ten seasons for the Magpies.

Adams won the Copeland Trophy as Collingwood’s best-and-fairest in 2020, the same year he earned his only All-Australian selection.

A member of the Magpies’ losing 2018 grand final team, where he finished second in Norm Smith Medal voting, a hamstring injury cost him a spot in the club’s 2023 premiership lineup.

Injuries continued to hamper him after he requested a trade to the Swans ahead of the 2024 season, making just 23 AFL appearances during his time in the Harbour City, of which 19 came in his first year at the club.
