A still of the melee between Drysdale and Angelsea.

Drysdale and Anglesea could be reaching deep into their pockets following a melee sparked by an incident that put a star Roo in hospital.

Nearly every player involved in Saturday’s clash at Mortimer Oval, including some on the bench at the time, became embroiled in the fracas after Noah McGregor-Dawson was concussed following the halftime siren.

Footage leading up to it shows Drysdale’s Jackson Payne receiving a free kick for high contact from Anglesea’s Ike Hardman.

After Payne kicks the goal, he gets close to McGregor-Dawson, who had been standing the mark.

McGregor-Dawson then grabs Payne before he is slung by Hawk Jake Hargreaves. As he is falling, McGregor-Dawson’s head makes contact with teammate Jack Baker, with vision showing him knocked out before hitting the ground.

Hardman quickly realises the seriousness of the situation and signals to Anglesea’s bench that McGregor-Dawson requires medical attention.

The melee, which also appears to involve spectators, continues for a further two minutes before players finally separate and leave the ground, with McGregor-Dawson still being attended to.

It is understood Anglesea has raised its concerns over the incident with AFL Barwon.

Geelong Amateur veteran Mitch Day is shown a yellow card during the win over Portarlington.

Meanwhile, finals-bound Geelong Amateur and Barwon Heads are awaiting the outcome of the Match Review Panel’s findings into incidents involving star players.

Veteran Pegs forward Mitch Day will be looked at for separate incidents involving Portarlington pair Kelly Pickard and Brayden Poole that took place within seconds of each other during the home team’s win at KFC Oval.

Footage about 17 minutes into the first quarter shows Day taking exception at Pickard lifting his leg as teammate Sam Lloyd takes a mark.

Day hip and shoulders Pickard to the ground before dropping his left knee into Pickard’s back.

Confronted by Poole, Day pushes him to the surface. He is then shown a yellow card, with Poole assisted from the ground by a member of the Demons’ medical staff, before returning to the field a short time later.

Seagulls playing co-coach Damian McMahon was given a yellow card and reported for striking Newcomb gun Luke Justin during the third quarter of the Power’s thumping win at PlasterCom Oval.

The alleged incident isn’t captured on camera, but it occurred after Justin tackled McMahon as he was getting his kick away moments earlier.
