Portarlington is likely to be without Connor Menadue until after the Bellarine’s mid-May bye after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury.
The former Richmond and North Melbourne AFL player was forced from the field during the Demons’ 63-point Anzac Day loss to Drysdale.
“I reckon he’s going to miss maybe three to four (games),” Portarlington coach Darren Findlay said.
(I) still don’t know how really bad it is, but at this stage, I’d say we’re looking at a minimum of three.
“We’ll try to manage him the best we possibly can.
“Obviously, it’s going to be a bit of a loss for us.”
Captain Mitch Turnbull missed the meeting with the Hawks with a minor leg issue and is likely to have to pass a fitness test to prove he’s right to take on two-time reigning premier Torquay at home on Saturday.
“I think he should be okay,” Findlay said.
“But we’ll test him on Thursday and see if he’s right.”
Findlay has forecast several changes for the meeting with the Tigers as he looks to reward strong form in the reserves through the first month of the season.
“I always make changes every week; I’m just trying to get a good mix together,” he said
It will give someone else an opportunity to come in as well. We’ll make three, maybe four changes this week.
There are some players who are playing some good footy.
“Look, I’d love just to play my best 22 just for one game. But as you know, our points situation is probably the worst in the comp.
“But I think our best 22 is really competitive and really good. Personally, I think it’s top-five material by a mile.
“But unfortunately, it’s going to be hard to get them all in, especially this year anyway.”
