Ruggles reprimanded, free to take on Torquay

Drysdale star Tom Ruggles is free to play in Saturday’s clash with unbeaten ladder leader Torquay after accepting a reprimand for an incident in last weekend’s loss to Barwon Heads.

AFL Barwon’s Match Review Panel cited the former Geelong defender for a dangerous tackle on Seagull Lachie Wilson during the second quarter.

It was assessed as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, drawing a one-match suspension.

However, an early guilty plea means Ruggles can take on the Tigers.

The MRP also looked at alleged high contact on Ruggles by Barwon Heads big man Brock Close.

With no vision of the incident, no charge was laid.

BFNL: DAYMAN BLOW FOR GROVE

Modewarre veteran Ryan Williams and Geelong Amateur ruck Nick Nott are also in the clear.

Williams looked at for an off-the-ball incident involving Anglesea duo Will Batson and Nick Swain.

While a tackle Nott laid on Queenscliff youngster Jai McGough was not deemed reportable.

In the GFNL, Geelong West’s Jamieson Ballantyne has accepted a reprimand after lodging an early guilty plea for striking Colac’s Aaron Walters.

The incident was assessed as careless conduct, low impact and contact to the body.

Ballantyne, who has played four VFL games with Geelong this year after moving from Footscray, is free to play against Lara.
