One of the highlight events on the local football calendar is headed for a new location in 2024.

After two years of being hosted at Drysdale’s Mortimer Oval, the Geelong regional Fight MND Big Freeze will be held at St Joseph’s Herne Hill base Drew Oval.

The pool and slide will be in place for local identities to take the icy plunge on Sunday, 2 June, ahead of the clash between noted GFNL adversaries Joeys and St Mary’s.

AFL great Neale Daniher has been the face of Fight MND for ten years after going public with his Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis in 2014.

Nephew James Breust has played with Drysdale since 2021 and was a driving force behind the first two Geelong Big Freeze events.

“I think it was time, probably, to dip into a different population pool and share the love around,” Breust said.

“We like to get local celebrities down the slide and into the cold ice every year.
