Teia Miles is so desperate to play in Portarlington’s 150th-anniversary celebration match against Queenscliff that he hasn’t ruled out playing with a fractured arm.
The Demons star suffered the injury after landing awkwardly in a tackle in the weekend loss to Torquay, with x-rays revealing a crack in his radius.
Miles suffered the damage during the second quarter but played out the match.
“They have said that it’s going to be up to me to (make the decision) to play,” he said.
“If I play and it gets hurt even more, it’s going to be a potential break and require surgery.
“I really want this club to finish on a high and finish off with a win.
“I’m going to do everything I can to try and play.
Miles has been fitted for a guard this (Monday) afternoon, which he will wear at training on Thursday night.
“I’ve got to get through training Thursday first,” Miles said.
“If I can’t get through that, there’s no hope of me playing.
“I’ll rest up throughout the week and see how I feel Thursday and Friday.”
In a big week for the club, which features the launch of the book Kicking Against the Wind – 150 years at the Portarlington Football Netball Club, the Demons will wear special jumpers for this week’s match.
The design includes the surname of every player to have featured in a senior or reserve grade match for the club.
Miles admits he’s desperate to be part of the
“It’s a massive week for the club, despite the result on the weekend,” he said.
“150-year celebration is going to be huge for the club. I’m sure the ground is going to be packed, and the crowd’s going to be ready, and I’d love to be playing in one of these Portarlington jumpers.
“The jumpers are going to be something special for the crowd, members and all the players and past players to see.”
