Braeden Eddy and Bradley Michell will go from playing under one former Barwon Heads teammate to another after joining reigning GDFNL premier East Geelong.
The duo have departed the Belmont Lions, where they played under recently announced Lara coach Andy Walsgott, to link up with Ned Aulsebrook, who is entering his fourth season at Richmond Crescent.
Eddy and Michell spent three seasons at Winter Reserve and were part of the Lions’ 2024 grand final team, which was beaten by Thomson.
Eddy, who played in two premierships with Barwon Heads alongside Aulsebrook, was named in this year’s Coaches Team of the Year – his second consecutive selection.
“A strong running defender with the ability to rebound with a lethal left foot, and the ability to impact in the midfield, Braeden will be a fantastic addition to our playing group,” East Geelong said in a Facebook post.
The durable Michell played 59 of a possible 61 matches for the Lions, was named in the 2024 Team of the Year, and finished fourth in the 2025 Whitley Medal.
“Brad is a versatile player who plays his best football up the ground on a wing, or down forward,” the Eagles said.
