Winchelsea has added some handy forward firepower with its first off-season signing.
The Blues have added 2019 GFNL Rookie of the Year Jack Symmons from Grovedale.
Symmons is an undoubted talent. He kicked 24 goals in 13 games in 2019, including four goals on three occasions, including against that year’s grand finalists St Mary’s and Colac.
However, Symmons has been sighted at GFNL senior level once since the cancelled 2020 season.
That one game came in the Covid-impacted 2021 season, where he managed 30 goals in ten reserve grade games.
However, Symmons hasn’t taken the field since then.
Meanwhile, Geelong West has unveiled four signings, headed by the addition of Tannar Stone from the Giants’ GFNL arm.
Stone, who arrived at West Oval from Hampden League club before the 2021 season, played 17 GFNL senior games.
The GDFNL Giants have also welcomed back Trent Archer from a stint at North Shore while also signing Charles Wild, who spent a season with Geelong West-St Peter’s in 2016, from Jeparit-Rainbow.
They’ve also added Beau Fenton from Colac and District club Otway Districts. Fenton is the brother of star Modewarre defender Morgan.
