Falcons on rep duty

Twelve Geelong Falcons will put their hand up for Vic Country selection for this under-18 National Championships after being selected for this weekend’s trial games against Vic Metro.

Two matches will be played at Werribee’s Avalon Airport Oval on Sunday.

Overage trio Joe Pike (Barwon Heads), Liam Kershaw (St Joseph’s), and Will McLachlan (Colac), who has kicked 11 goals in two games, are among those given the chance to impress.

Zac McInnes (Bell Park), Brady Hall (Colac), Edan Ibbetson (Newtown & Chilwell), Lachie Jacques (St Mary’s), Ben Rongdit (Colac), Xavier Ivisic (Bell Park), River Stevens (Newtown & Chilwell), Noah Tullio (Newtown & Chilwell), and Cooper Leach (Grovedale) have also been selected.

Today (Wednesday), five girls and one boy from the Falcons region represent Vic Country in Diversity All-Stars matches for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and players from multicultural backgrounds not currently in Talent League programs.

The girls team, coached by Falcons boys assistant Michael King, features Tannah Andrews (Ocean Grove), Rhiannan Hetherington (Geelong Amateur), Mia Murphy (St Mary’s), Mary Rolfe (St Mary’s), and Elleischa Sizer (Torquay),

Wichay Paul (Geelong West), on the Falcons’ Futures List, has been named for the boys’ team.

Both games are being played at Sandringham’s Trevor Barker Beach Oval.
