Cat in clear over collision

AFL Barwon’s Match Review Panel has found a collision that hospitalised Geelong West star Jamieson Ballantyne was an accident.

After scrutinising footage of Sunday’s final-quarter incident involving Lara veteran Dylan Jose, which brought an early end to the Giants’ 94-point win at West Oval, the MRP cleared the Cat of any wrongdoing.

The Geelong VFL-listed Ballantyne, who kicked three goals, gathered 25 disposals and took nine marks, suffered a concussion and spent the night in Geelong’s University Hospital before being released Monday morning.

The MRP was asked to look at alleged illegal contact off the ball by a Geelong West player on Cats big man Ryan Bell during the second quarter, but no vision was available.

Meanwhile, North Shore’s Bradlee Tregenza was found not to have committed a reportable offence after the MRP looked at possible high contact on Newtown & Chilwell gun Ned Harris during the second quarter of the Seagulls’ loss at Windsor Park.

Earlier today (Tuesday), Drysdale forward Jake Hargreaves accepted a one-week suspension for striking Anglesea playing coach Jordan Keras.
