New deal for Spolding

Grovedale has shown its faith in the direction coach Jacob Spolding is taking the club after extending his contract for a further two years.

Spolding, who is in his third season in charge at Burdoo Reserve, will remain in the role until at least the end of 2028.

His signing comes ahead of a crucial clash with Geelong West, with a Tigers’ win improving their win-loss record to 4-4 and within striking distance of the top five in a season where

Spolding had three years as playing coach of Newtown & Chilwell from 2011-13 after an impressive on-field career that included 123 games and premiership success with North Ballarat in the VFL.

He served as an assistant coach at Werribee before joining Grovedale as an assistant to Daniel Fraser in 2021-22.

Spolding had a year under Mark Neeld at South Barwon in 2023 before returning to Burdoo Reserve in the top job at the end of that season.

The Tigers won five games in 2024 and four matches last year. However, they look well-placed to better that mark in 2026.
