Newtown & Chilwell and North Shore will open the 2024 GFNL season after agreeing to bring forward their Round 9 clash.
The Eagles and Seagulls were scheduled to meet on June 15. However, they will now meet at Elderslie Reserve on April 6.
It’s the second consecutive season North Shore has played in a season-opening clash after taking on St Joseph’s in a fixture slated initially for Round 3 in 2023.
Newtown & Chilwell has dominated the Seagulls for nearly two decades, winning 24 of the past 26 clashes dating back to 2007.
North Shore’s most recent win over the Eagles came in Round 14, 2017, with the Shories’ last leaving Elderslie Reserve with the four points in 2011.
Round 1 is scheduled for April 13, with Newtown & Chilwell hosting St Mary’s and North Shore taking on Lara for the Paddy Cahir Cup at Windsor Park.
