South Barwon coach Mark Neeld has recalled experienced forward Jonty Broughton, among two changes for tomorrow’s GFNL preliminary final against Bell Park at Scaada Stadium.
Broughton, who has played 142 games and kicked 232 goals at senior level. has spent nearly three months in the reserves, kicking 33 goals in eight games for the all-conquering Swans seconds.
South Barwon has also included Paddy Bourke, who was best on ground in last week’s reserves second semi-final victory over St Mary’s.
Oscar Pollock and Zac Green have been omitted.
AT SELECTION – PRELIMINARY FINAL
The Dragons will have access to the talented Kobe George after Geelong omitted him from its VFL grand final team.
He replaces the unlucky Jake Reid, who has played 17 consecutive matches after spending the first three weeks of the season in the reserves.
Bell Park won both meetings between the two clubs during the home-and-away season.
In Round 2 at Hi Sushi Oval, the Dragons raced to a 26-point quarter-time lead and kept South Barwon at arm’s length for the rest of the afternoon, winning by 29 points.
While in Round 10 at McDonald Reserve, Bell Park kept the Swans to their lowest score under Neeld, winning by 63 points, 13.7 (85) to 2.10 (22).
Tomorrow’s winner faces St Mary’s in next Friday’s grand final at GMHBA Stadium.
