Jack Henderson will get the chance to live his AFL dream after signing with Melbourne for the 2025 season.

The Geelong Falcons premiership player, who played 106 VFL games for Werribee, including last year’s drought-breaking premiership win, was announced as joining the Demons this (Wednesday) afternoon.

Henderson trained with West Coast last week and participated in the Eagles’ match simulation against Richmond on Monday.

However, the 25-year-old has chosen the Demons over remaining in Perth.

“We’re really pleased to be able to give Jack an opportunity, following an impressive VFL career at Werribee,” Melbourne list manager Tim Lamb said.

“We were very close to selecting Jack in the National Draft last year and feel he has earned his opportunity at AFL level.

“He is a terrific character who has shown great perseverance over his football journey improving each year.

“He is a true competitor with a great attitude, and we look forward to seeing what role he can play for us in 2025.”

From Blighty in the Southern Riverina, Henderson attended Geelong College as a boarder, impressing in school football and with Geelong club St Mary’s before joining the Falcons.

After failing to earn an AFL chance at the end of the 2017 season, he joined Werribee.

He won last year’s Norm Goss Medal as VFL Grand Final best-on-ground after tallying 23 disposals, eight tackles, seven marks and two goals against Southport.

Henderson will join Werribee premiership teammate Aidan Johnson at Melbourne and follows Shaun Mannagh (Geelong), Sam Clohesy (Gold Coast), and Riley Bice (Sydney) as recent Tigers to get an AFL opportunity.
