Geelong has continued to reshape its list ahead of the 2026 AFL season, parting ways with rookie-listed midfielder Ted Clohesy while confirming two other list moves.

Clohesy, 21, has been informed he will not be offered a new contract, bringing an end to his three-year stint at GMHBA Stadium.

The hard-edged on-baller, who joined the Cats as an NGA selection, made his AFL debut in Round 24 of the 2023 season and went on to play 12 games in total, including nine this year, of which he was the sub on six occasions.

While opportunities at senior level were limited, Clohesy was a standout in the VFL.

In 11 games in 2025, he averaged 28.6 disposals, eight tackles and 6.5 clearances, also kicking eight goals to finish seventh in Geelong’s VFL Best & Fairest count.

Clohesy is expected to find another AFL home, with multiple reports of interest from Gold Coast, where his brother Sam plays, Essendon, and West Coast.

“Ted has had a positive impact at the Club and has been a consistent performer at VFL level, finishing runner-up in our best and fairest in 2024 and placing in the top 10 again this season,” football boss Andrew Mackie said.

“We would like to thank Ted for his contribution to our football program and wish him all the best in the future.”

Meanwhile, Geelong has also delisted the out-of-contract George Stevens and 2024 draftee Keighton Matofai-Forbes.

However, the Cats have committed to selecting both players in next month’s Rookie Draft.

It leaves veteran defender Jed Bews, small forward Oli Wiltshire, and rookie ruck Joe Pike without deals for next year.

However, it is understood Bews has signed for a 15th season.
