GEELONG has finalised an inexperienced squad ahead of the 2022 VFL season.
Among the names gone after former AFL-listed Cats Aaron Black (Modewarre), Darcy Lang (Colac) and Jackson Thurlow (Launceston)
Eight of the top ten from last year’s best-and-fairest, including winner Darcy Fort (Brisbane Lions), runner-up Oscar Brownless (delisted), and third-placed Charlie Constable (Gold Coast), are gone.
Small forward Jackson McLachlan (5th) and AFL-listed Nick Stevens (9th) are the only players remaining from the leaderboard.
New faces on the primary list include former Sydney defender Matt Ling and ex-Fremantle midfielder Brett Bewley.
Former Port Melbourne ruckman Lachie Waddell will also wear the Hoops in 2022.
The Cats have their final practice match against Essendon at The Hangar on Saturday ahead of its opening round clash, also against the Bombers, at GMHBA Stadium on March 26.
