GEELONG will wait and see which players remain available before deciding whether to use its mid-season draft selection.
The Cats will have pick no.12 in Wednesday night’s draft, with a spot vacant on the club’s rookie list.
“We’ll go in with a list of names, and depending on what comes through to us, we’ll decide at the time whether we’ll use that pick or not,” Geelong recruiting boss Stephen Wells.
“There’s a good variety of players on there (list).
“But, we also understand that if we don’t use a pick this time around, we’ll have that spot available for us at the end of the year.”

Wells says Geelong has to consider what its list will look like at the end of the season heading into the mid-season draft.
“As our own list evolves, a lot can happen with that over the course of the second half of the season,” he said.
“There’s a lot to take into account as we have prepared for this draft.
“And then, on the night, we’ll have some interesting decisions to make.”
Bendigo Pioneers midfielder Oskar Faulkhead, who attended Geelong Grammar and has spent the last games in the Cats’ VFL team, has been linked to Geelong’s pick.
“Oskar has had a couple of goes in our VFL, which was all organised before the start of the year,” Wells said.
“He’s one of a big group of players that we’re considering.”
More than 200 players have nominated for the mid-season draft, where up to 23 selections will be made.
Nineteen players with links to the Geelong region have put their names forward for an opportunity.
