Geelong’s newest recruits say they are settling in nicely as pre-season resumes after the Christmas break.

The Cats list has come together following a busy off-season of player moves, including 20-year-old former Magpie Ollie Henry who said he’s been enjoying spending time with and learning off his brother Jack.

“I’m forward and he’s down back and it’s pretty nice to get a bit of a challenge out of him, he’s pretty experienced.

“It’s been nice and he’s always a cool head to lean on.”

Ollie said despite most of the list being an older-profile (Geelong has the oldest list in the league, with 12 players over 30), he’s been impressed with the young players coming through.

“It’s such a good group, a lot of experience and a lot of youth as well.

“Mixing them together has been really exciting so I’m really looking forward to it.

“So far a lot of the young boys have been impressing.”

Jack Bowes said he’s already learned plenty from his new teammates as he digs his teeth into his first pre-season at the Cats.

The former Gold Coast midfield said he’s been training in a variety of roles but is already feeling right at home among Geelong’s star-studded midfield.

“A few tips and tricks are being taught throughout the midfield, through Paddy (Dangerfield), Cam (Guthrie) and Blitz (Mark Blicavs) have been really awesome so far.

“I’m really looking forward to getting to know them more and just connecting more and just building that continuity over pre-season.”

“I’ve obviously been working through the midfield with Shaun Grigg and the boys in there, so a bit of midfield and a bit of wing.

“It’s been good, I’ve been sort of training in a few different positions, trying to get to know the gameplan from all different angles.”

Former Giant Tanner Bruhn is back home after two years at GWS, traded for Geelong’s first round draft pick after requesting a trade to the Cats.

The Geelong Falcons export said he’s enjoying being back in familiar territory.

“I’ve really enjoyed coming home so it’s nice to be back in front of family and friends.
