The chances of Geelong midfielder Cam Guthrie being seen again in the AFL home-and-away season appear to be shortening.
After listing the two-time Carji Greeves medallist as being three weeks from a return last week, this week’s medical report has removed a timeline for his return.
An Achilles issue has sidelined Guthrie since the loss to Gold Coast in mid-May
“Cameron Guthrie continues to work through his recovery, preparing for a return to play, with the Club to provide a specific timeline in the coming weeks,” Geelong’s statement said.
Geelong will be without Gary Rohan (concussion) for Saturday’s twilight clash with Adelaide.
The dynamic forward was subbed out during the third quarter of the win over North Melbourne.
“We’ll assess each day how Gary is tracking, and we’ll know more as he progresses around availability to play in the coming weeks,” assistant football boss Brett Johnson said.
We’ll ensure Gary is well looked after.”
Midfielder Tom Atkins (back) will be available after missing two matches.
And draftee Oli Wiltshire will return to the field after the VFL bye.
“Tom has progressed well and hasn’t missed a beat with his rehab after he was a late withdrawal against the Bulldogs,” Johnson said.
“It is a long season, and we took the conservative approach with Tom to make sure he is ready to attack the back end of the year.
“Oli has worked through a pelvis issue and has ticked all the boxes.
With the VFL team having the bye this weekend, he will get his chance to return next week when we play Carlton’s VFL team.”
Veteran forward Tom Hawkins remains three weeks away with his foot issue.
