Cats swoop on Falcons young guns

Geelong has taken two Falcons in this year’s rookie draft.

The Cats using their 12th pick to select midfielder Xavier Ivisic and pick 31 on Barwon Heads’ ruckman Joe Pike.

Ivisic played for Vic Country in the U18 carnival and has been praised for his high praise for his footy IQ and application, and clean use of the footy.

Two metre ruckman Pike is recognised for his clean hands and dominance in one on ones.

Geelong also used pick 23 in the rookie draft to take Oakleigh Chargers wingman Patrick Retschko.

Retschko has been rated highly for his endurance and outside running are strengths, as his versatility.
