Geelong will leave it until later in the week before making a call on whether Jeremy Cameron returns from a concussion to face former club GWS Giants at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday.
The star forward missed last week’s trip to Darwin after suffering a delayed concussion following the Cats’ Round 9 loss to Port Adelaide.
He’s ticking all the boxes, getting really well looked after by our medical team,” assistant football boss Brett Johnson said.
“At this stage it’s on track, but there’s still a bit to play out in terms of the protocols for the rest of the week, but we’re hopeful that ‘Jezza’ gets out there.”
Key defender Sam De Koning will also have to pass a fitness fit after he was a late withdrawal from the record loss to Gold Coast after suffering hamstring awareness.
“Sammy just pulled up, after training up in Darwin last week, a bit tight, so (we took) a really conservative approach,” Johnson said.
“He will be a test this week, we’ll see how he goes at training and how he progresses, but we’re hopeful he’ll get up.”
Captain Patrick Dangerfield’s return from his second hamstring injury of the season remains on track.
He could be back as soon as the Round 12 meeting with Richmond or after the bye for the return meeting with Carlton at the MCG on June 21.
“Patty is tracking really well; he’s leaving no stone unturned with his rehab and is super professional,” Johnson said.
“He’s back training out on the ground with the team, which is really positive, so everything’s on track at this stage.”
