Geelong will be without vice-captain Tom Stewart for Friday night’s clash with Gold Coast after entering the AFL’s Concussion Protocol.
The star defender entered the protocol following a contest in the seconds before the final siren of last Thursday’s loss to Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.
It’s Stewart’s second concussion in nine months, after an incident in the preliminary final win over Hawthorn forced him to miss the grand final.
“Tom was assessed post-game by our medical team and subsequently has entered the concussion protocol,” football boss Andrew Mackie said.
“He will miss Friday night’s match, and we will continue to monitor him through the protocols.”
Fellow defender Lawson Humphries will return after an ankle injury suffered against Carlton kept him out of the clash with the Crows.
Out-of-favour forward Brad Close and midfielder Mitch Knevitt are listed as tests.
Close, who was dropped to the VFL following the loss to the Blues, sprained an ankle during the last quarter of Geelong’s win over Sandringham.
Knevitt was a late withdrawal from the meeting with the Zebras after experiencing hip soreness.
