JORDAN Clark’s hopes of returning to Geelong’s AFL line-up could depend on the results of a scan on a shoulder injury suffered in the Cats’ VFL hiding of Brisbane on Friday.
Clark suffered the injury during the third quarter of the 118-point thrashing at South Pine Sports Complex.
“He got bumped; he grabbed the ball and got blindsided,” coach Shane O’Bree said.
“We’ll have to get scans to see how bad it is, but we’re hoping it pulls up pretty well.
“He was going really well.”
Charlie Constable again put his hand up for an AFL recall with 43 possessions, of which 20 were contested, ten clearances, nine marks and 17 score involvements.
Max Holmes and Oscar Brownless again impressed of the AFL-listed contingent, with Francis Evans and Shannon Neale kicking four goals as Geelong made light work of the Lions.
“The advantage we got with the VFL team playing after the AFL is we get a good look at teams and how they want to play,” O’Bree said.
“Our boys really led the way with our game style, and we knew what to expect from the Brisbane Lions this week.
“Max Holmes was really good as a high forward – his body work, his transition was really good, and his pressure was really good as well,” he said.
“Constable and Clark and those boys setting off around the ball were awesome too.”
VFL listed small forward Jackson McLachlan again impressed with four goals, while Darcy Lang and Jye Chalcraft also featured among Geelong’s best.
The Cats, who jumped into the top four with the win, are due to face Essendon in Round 12.
The time and day will be confirmed once the AFL fixture for Round 16 is released.
