Luckless Geelong ruck Toby Conway is set to make his highly anticipated return to action in the club’s VFL clash with Collingwood at Whitten Oval on Saturday night.
The 22-year-old hasn’t taken the field in 2025 after suffering a back injury as a result of a coughing fit, which has been followed by what the Cats have labelled an “extensive conditioning block”.
Conway last played just over 12 months ago in a VFL match against Port Melbourne.
Since being drafted with pick 24 in the 2021 National Draft from the Geelong Falcons, he has played six AFL and 17 VFL games.
In more good news for the Cats, Jeremy Cameron is expected to be right to take on St Kilda on Sunday afternoon at GMHBA Stadium.
The Coleman Medal leader spent time on the bench during the loss to the GWS Giants due to groin soreness.
Key defender Sam De Koning is in the frame to return from a shoulder injury suffered in the June 14 win over Essendon.
First-year defender Lenny Hofmann could also join Conway in the VFL after experiencing hamstring tightness following his state league debut the week before.
Veteran trio Cam Guthrie (calf), Mitch Duncan (shoulder) and Jake Kolodjashnij (groin) could be the players sidelined this weekend.
