“Toby is a star of the competition, we have admired and respected him from afar and we’re looking forward to having him complement our current playing squad,” he said.

“His experience, competitiveness and capacity to elevate those around him will be a valuable addition to our group both on and off the field. We welcome Toby, his wife Georgia and daughter Isla to the club.”

Greene, 33, played 282 games after joining the Giants in the 2011 National Draft ahead of the club’s AFL entry the following year.

He also kicked 450 goals, won two best-and-fairest awards, and earned three All-Australian selections.

GWS have been handed pick 26 as compensation for losing Greene.
