Jack Henry has signed a contract extension that will likely see him be a Cat for life, while locker neighbour Zach Guthrie has put pen to paper a new deal for the second time this year.
Out of contract at the end of the season, Henry, who turns 26 later this month, has put injury issues of the past two seasons behind to play every game in 2024 and earn a five-year contract that will keep the Hoops until at least the end of 2029.
Ahead of his 100th AFL game this week, Guthrie has signed a three-year extension only four months after penning a one-year deal for next year.
The new contract keeps him at Geelong until the end of 2028.
“Zach has developed into a reliable member of our defensive group and, more importantly, is highly respected and regarded by all his teammates,” football boss Andrew Mackie said.
“Jack is a tough one-on-one defender, and his ability to intercept in the back half continues to be super important for us. He is a key cog in our defensive structure and a big part of our future.
“We look forward to seeing both Zach and Jack excel in the Hoops in the years ahead and, importantly, seeing both thrive in the back end of this season as we chase greatness in 2024.”
Fourteen of the current Geelong list remain without a deal for 2025, headed by captain Patrick Dangerfield, key defender Jake Kolodjashnij, and out-of-favour midfielder Brandan Parfitt.
Decisions regarding the futures of veterans Mitch Duncan, Rhys Stanley, Zac Tuohy, Gary Rohan, and Jed Bews are also yet to be made.
