Tom Hawkins’ hopes of returning in time for a farewell game at GMHBA Stadium appear dashed.
Geelong’s latest injury update has Hawkins’ return from a foot injury at two weeks, ruling him out of Saturday night’s clash with St Kilda and the final-round meeting with West Coast.
Hawkins, who announced his retirement last week, has been sidelined since the Round 15 loss to Carlton.
He posted a video to Instagram of himself running on GMHBA Stadium and doing strengthening exercises on his foot, commenting, “Today was a step in the right direction”.

Sam De Koning is likely to join him in missing the remainder of the home-and-away season.
The key defender has undergone what Geelong has labelled a “minor procedure” on the knee injury he suffered against Adelaide.
The Cats have put a timeframe of 1-2 weeks on his return.
“Sam has been managing a knee injury, more particularly with his patella,” assistant football boss Brett Johnson said.
“It is unfortunate for Sam, but he is ready to tackle his rebab head-on. We look forward to seeing him back in the coming weeks.”
Tanner Bruhn and Ted Clohesy entered the concussion protocol after incidents in the AFL and VFL, respectively.
“Tanner and Ted will both miss this weekend; we will know more about their availability as they move through the return to play protocols,” Johnson said.
Mark O’Connor’s knee injury has gone from having a 1-2 weeks timeframe to joining Cam Guthrie (Achilles) as TBC.
