No action for VFL, VFLW Cats

GEELONG’S scheduled VFL and VFLW matches won’t go ahead this weekend due to the seven-day lockdown announced for Victoria on Thursday morning.

Both teams were fixtured to play Collingwood in Melbourne, with the VFLW team set to take on the Magpies in a top-of-the-table clash at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon.

While the VFL side had a match-up with Collingwood at the MCG following the AFL clash between the two clubs.

“The AFL has prepared for this situation, and the inclusion of three allocated byes for all VFL clubs provides flexibility with the fixture,” a statement said

“The VFLW home and away season has two games remaining before a scheduled bye, and the AFL will work through a revised fixture for all clubs.”

The Geelong Falcons NAB League Boys match against the Northern Knights to be played at Preston City Oval on Saturday afternoon has also been postponed.
