Mark O’Connor looks set to miss good mate Mark Blicavs’ 300th AFL appearance after the Geelong utility was offered a one-match suspension for rough conduct on Willem Duursma during the second quarter of the Cats’ win over West Coast.
The second-quarter bump to the head of the No.1 draft pick was assessed by the AFL’s Match Review Officer as careless conduct, medium impact, and high contact.
There is no reduction in the sanction available with an early guilty plea.
It’s O’Connor’s first suspension in his 151-game career.
The Irishman was a standout for Geelong, kicking a career-high three goals, including two during the second term.
