Ollie stands out again

OLLIE Dempsey is continuing to turn heads after a four-goal effort helped Geelong to an upset VFL win over the Brisbane Lions.

With the Cats containing just seven AFL-listed players, of which none have played at the highest level, the rookie forward justified why he was named an emergency for the senior team.

Dempsey’s final goal saw him run around the man who was standing on the mark 45m from goal and then snap from 30m, giving Geelong a lead they would never surrender.

“Ollie’s played three games of VFL football, and every week he’s had these 20-minute bursts where he just kicks goals,” coach Shane O’Bree told K rock Football.

“He’s got this uncanny knack of that, and we haven’t got many players on our list like that.

“Who knows where it takes him. He’s got a lot of development left in him, and as you can see by the size of him, he’s got to get in the gym a bit more.

“But we’re loving what he’s bringing at the moment.”
