BRANDAN Parfitt will be a vital part of the Geelong midfielder until at least the end of 2024 after signing a contract extension with the club.
The Cats have confirmed the 24-year-old has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal.
Drafted with Geelong’s first pick (no.26) in the 2016 National Draft, the Northern Territory product has played 108 matches in the Hoops.
“I’m very happy at Geelong. I enjoy being part of this playing group and love everything about the club,” Parfitt said.
Parfitt spent seven weeks on the sidelines with a broken hand before a bout of Covid delayed his return by a week.
He was the starting sub against the Western Bulldogs last week before coming into the game as the replacement for Gary Rohan at three-quarter time.
Parfitt joins Max Holmes, Mark O’Connor, Ollie Dempsey, Shannon Neale and Toby Conway in re-signing with Geelong.
“Brandan is an important part of Geelong and our plans moving forward,” football boss Simon Lloyd said.
“He has shown to be an integral part of our midfield with his football smarts and physicality.
“It has been pleasing to see Brandan’s development through our system, he has worked very hard, and we have no doubt he will continue to improve and take his game to the next level.”
The signing of Parfitt leaves 13 players out of contract.
That includes captain Joel Selwood and veteran forward Tom Hawkins, who indicated he was keen to play on in 2023 last week.
