Livewire Geelong forward Gary Rohan only needs to get through training over the next couple of days to return to action this weekend.
The 32-year-old hasn’t played at any level this year due to a back problem.
“Gary’s really, sort of, come home late with his rehab,” Cats’ assistant football boss Brett Johnson said.
“He’s recovered from those back issues he was having, and that was hampering him throughout pre-season.
“If he gets through training this week, he will be available to play.”

Like Rohan, captain Patrick Dangerfield needs to successfully negotiate training to make his return from a hamstring injury suffered against Adelaide on March 22.
Irishman Zach Tuohy may have to wait until the trip to Brisbane to qualify for AFL life membership.
He’s a test after suffering an ankle injury in the Gather Round win over the Western Bulldogs.
Jake Kolodjashnij (quad tightness) is also a test to take on the Roos.
Cam Guthrie (quad) returned to training with the main group and could be back in action by the end of the month.
GEELONG INJURY LIST
PLAYER | INJURY | ESTIMATED RETURN |
---|---|---|
Patrick Dangerfield | Hamstring | Test |
Mitch Edwards | Back | 3 weeks |
Joe Furphy | Ankle | 2 weeks |
Cam Guthrie | Quad | 2-4 weeks |
Jake Kolodjashnij | Quad | Test |
Zach Tuohy | Ankle | Test |
“Cam’s going really well,” Johnson said. “As I’ve said previously, (he’s been) really professional in terms of the way he approaches his rehab.
“We expect Cam to be available, still, in two weeks time.”
