Captain Patrick Dangerfield and reigning Coleman medallist Jeremy Cameron will need to get through Geelong’s main training session to prove their fitness for Saturday’s clash with Fremantle at GMHBA Stadium.
Dangerfield (calf) and Cameron (quad) both fell short of proving their fitness for last week’s Opening Round loss to Gold Coast.
“Both Pat and Jeremy were extremely close to playing in Opening Round,” Cats football boss Andrew Mackie said.
“Ultimately, we felt it best they had another week of preparation.
“They’ll need to get through our main session this week, and if they do, they’ll play Saturday.”
Small forward Tyson Stengle is still listed as being on an individualised program after an interrupted pre-season.
Geelong says veteran ruck Rhys Stanley will feature in the club’s VFL practice match against Collingwood at Deakin University on Saturday.
