Livewire Geelong forward Gary Rohan, ruck Rhys Stanley, and out-of-favour defender Jed Bews are a chance to return from injury this weekend.
Rohan, who has managed just three AFL games in 2024, missed last week’s loss to the GWS Giants with an adductor issue.
A knee issue that football boss Andrew Mackie revealed on K rock Football ahead of the clash with the Giants has kept Rhys Stanley sidelined.
Bews, who has yet to make an AFL appearance this year, missed the Cats’ last two VFL outings due to an ankle issue suffered against Frankston.
“Gaz has been training well so far this week; he will fully train tomorrow (Wednesday), and (we) expect him to be available this weekend,” assistant football boss Brett Johnson said.
“Rhys hurt his medial ligament late last week and will be a test this week, and similarly, Jed has been nursing an ankle injury.”
Captain Patrick Dangerfield (hamstring) remains a chance to play against ladder leaders Sydney on June 9,
Cam Guthrie (Achilles) will either take on the Swans or be held back for the post-bye meeting with Carlton.
“Both are tracking along really well,” Johnson said.
“Danger is in full training with the team and, as Scotty (coach Chris Scott) said in his presser, we expect him to be available for the Sydney game,
“But we could take a conservative approach there, so it could be a week later.
“Guth just had an Achilles issue post the Darwin trip that we are being conservative with, so he is still one to two weeks away.”
Draftee Mitch Edwards is closing in on his first game in the Hoops as he nears the end of his recovery from a back issue, while Barwon Heads product Oli Wiltshire is 1-2 weeks away with a groin issue.
Category B Rookie Joe Furphy is set to make his first VFL appearance after overcoming an ankle issue.
