A mouthwatering season opener, a Tuesday night home game, and three interstate trips highlight Geelong’s 2024 AFLW fixture.

Released today (Friday), the schedule features 11 home-and-away games for the first time, with matches crammed into ten weeks.

A beaten preliminary finalist last year, the Cats start their quest for a maiden premiership against semi-final opponent Melbourne at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday, August 31.

It’s one of five home games for Geelong, with matches in Week 5 (Thursday, September 26 vs. Hawthorn), Week 6 (Tuesday, October 1 vs. Fremantle), Week 8 (Sunday, October 20 vs. Brisbane Lions) and Week 10 (TBC vs. Adelaide).

The Cats will make three interstate trips.

For the second time in as many seasons, Geelong will play the Swans in Sydney off the back of two five-day breaks as part of three games in ten days.

However, this year’s meeting – in Week 6 – will be at Henson Park after being fixtured at North Sydney Oval in 2023.

The Cats will also travel to Perth for the first time since late 2022 for a meeting with the West Coast Eagles.

They also take on the Suns on the Gold Coast, having not played at Carrara since early 2022.

From the 2023 home-and-away season, Geelong again clashes with Sydney, North Melbourne, Melbourne, Fremantle, Richmond and Hawthorn.

The six clubs they don’t play are Collingwood, Essendon, the GWS Giants Port Adelaide, St Kilda, and the Western Bulldogs.
