Veteran Geelong defender Jed Bews has suffered a setback in his push for a return to AFL action after suffering a concussion in Saturday’s VFL win over Werribee.
Bews has entered the concussion protocol following an incident in the final quarter of the clash at Chirnside Park in which Tiger Massimo Raso was offered a three-match suspension with an early guilty plea.
If the 32-year-old is cleared to play after the minimum 12-day break, he would be available for selection for the Cats’ VFL clash with Footscray on April 17, which will act as a curtain raiser to the AFL meeting with the Western Bulldogs that night.
Meanwhile, captain Patrick Dangerfield is listed as a test to return from a calf injury for Sunday’s Gather Round meeting with West Coast at Norwood.
The Cats now have a timeline on young forward Jay Polkinghorne’s foot injury.
He is facing at least another six weeks on the sidelines.
