GEELONG VFLW stars Tamara Smith and Paige Sheppard appear to be on the radar of AFLW clubs after being named in an All-Stars Team.
The pair have been named in a squad featuring under-23 talent from Victoria, Tasmania and the Northern Territory to play against the AFLW Academy at Richmond’s Punt Road Oval on Sunday.
Smith and Sheppard have been standout performers in a season that is likely to see the Cats finish with another finals berth.
They were both selected following nominations from AFLW clubs.
Smith, who turns 23 on Friday, had 26 disposals and 11 tackles in last week’s win over Port Melbourne, while Sheppard gathered 27 possessions, took six marks, had six clearances and kicked a goal.
Sheppard, 22, was considered unlucky not to be drafted following her top age year at the end of 2019 from the Geelong Falcons, where she was a premiership player the year before.
She finished runner-up in last year’s Geelong VFLW best-and-fairest, only two votes behind Claudia Gunjaca.
