The City of Greater Geelong has celebrated International Women’s Day with the 2025 Women in Community Life Awards.
21-year-old Teagan Mitchell was awarded the Award for Leadership and Advocacy.
She was recognised for the many organisations she is involved in locally, including work in environmental advocacy.
The Award for Human Rights was awarded to Noor Al-Assafi.
She is involved in a number of local advocacy groups, and works as a social worker with expertise in self-harm intervention and prevention.
The Award for Strengthening Healthy Communities went to Azadeh Doosti.
She was nominated for her work in fostering trust, empowerment, and inclusion for women in Geelong who face significant barriers to accessing essential services.
Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj has congratulated the women on their achievements.
“The City of Greater Geelong is committed to increasing women’s leadership, recognition, participation, and advancing gender equality within our workplace and across our community,” he said.
