Just days out from the club’s biggest match in the best part of two decades, Newcomb has locked away coach Tony Mirabella for the 2027 season.
Mirabella, who took on the role in mid-2023 following the departure of Mitch Troy, had been weighing up whether to extend his tenure.
“Mira has helped build the foundations of something special — developing a core squad of senior players, bringing in top-end talent and creating a group that believes we belong in the top tier,” a statement on Facebook said.
“After years of building, we’re now in the hunt for finals in 2026 — our first finals appearance in 20 years.
“And we’re not stopping there.
“With Mira’s leadership, passion, energy and commitment, we’ll keep building, keep pushing and keep chasing something special this year and in 2027.”
Newcomb, which hasn’t played finals since winning their most recent premiership in 2007, can move back into the top five if it can over Barwon Heads at PlasterCom Oval on Saturday.
After a slow start against Ocean Grove on the weekend, the Power dominated after halftime to record a 45-point win at Ray Menzies Oval for their eighth win of the season.
