Torquay star Matt Boag will play with Ballan in 2027 after being lured to the Central Highlands club by new coach Paul Lynch.
The gun midfielder, who won the 2024 Les Ash Medal as Bellarine best-and-fairest, was a standout in the Tigers’ grand final loss to Queenscliff, racking up 45 disposals.
Boag finished runner-up to Tynan Smith in Torquay’s best-and-fairest this year, having won the award when the Tigers claimed the 2024 premiership.
He’s also been named in the past three Bellarine teams of the year after returning from GFNL club Newtown & Chilwell, where he also won a best-and-fairest.
Boag is Ballan’s latest big-name signing.
It follows 2023 Neville Whitley medallist and former Corio star Joel Bennet agreeing to terms last week, while former Geelong and Carlton player Billie Smedts committed earlier this week.
Smedts played under Lynch at GDFNL club Thomson.
