Queenscliff’s premiership team is unlikely to play together again after gun midfielder Sam Kalbfell’s departure.

Kalbfell, who finished runner-up to fellow 2026 recruit Nick Rippon in the Coutas’ best-and-fairest, has signed with Central Murray club Koondrook-Barham.

One of six Coutas to play every game, Kalbfell averaged 25.6 disposals, with a season-high 36 against Portarlington in Round 11.

Kalbfell is the second confirmed departure from Queenscliff, with Jayden McHenry retiring after suffering a serious knee injury in the second semi-final loss to Torquay.

However, Will Baker has returned from a season with North Central club Donald.
