Anglesea will be without Courtney Wedderburn for Saturday’s top-three defining clash with Geelong Amateur after accepting a one-match suspension for an incident in last week’s win over Portarlington.

In his first game on return from injury, Wedderburn was cited by AFL Barwon’s Match Review Panel for making forceful front-on contact with Demons star Kelly Pickard in the final quarter of the Roos’ 46-point win at Ron Evans Oval.

The incident was assessed as careless conduct, high contact and medium impact, drawing a two-match sanction.

An early guilty plea means Wedderburn will be free to return for the Roos’ final round meeting with Ocean Grove.

Pickard suffered a concussion in the incident and will miss the remainder of Portarlington’s season.

The MRP also looked at an alleged strike by Wedderburn on Demon Braydon Poole during the opening term.

No charge was laid due to lack of vision.

Barwon Heads premiership player Lachie Slorach was cleared of allegedly striking Modewarre’s Oscar Cook in the final quarter of the Seagulls’ loss to the Warriors at Howard Harmer Oval.

In the GDFNL, Inverleigh’s Kieran McNally accepted a one-match ban with an early guilty plea for high contact on Thomson’s Mitch Hodgson in the loss to at Godfrey Street.

McNally was cited for an incident in the first quarter that was assessed as careless conduct, medium impact, and high contact, drawing a two-match sanction.

InTiger Darcy Troop was cited for striking Hawks star Casey Meehan in the same game.

Assessed as intentional conduct, low impact, and contact to the body, a one-week sanction was reduced to a reprimand with an early guilty plea.

Bell Post Hill captain Jack Yates was scrutinised for separate incidents from Sunday’s win over Geelong West at West Oval.

A rough conduct charge against Giants Lucas Wealands was assessed as careless conduct, low impact, and high contact.

It drew a one-match suspension that has been reduced to a reprimand with an early guilty plea.

The MRP found that the vision for head-high contact by Yates on Stirling Keane was inconclusive, and no charge was laid.

And Anakie’s Joel Jahn accepted a reprimand for contact off the ball on Belmont Lion Shaun McNamara in the third quarter of the Roos’ narrow loss at Anakie Reserve.

It was assessed as careless conduct, low impact, and high contact.
