Gun midfielder Luke Dahlhaus will play on with Anakie in 2025.
The former Western Bulldogs and Geelong star joined the Roos ahead of this season following the appointment of good mate Jayke Mawson as coach late last year.
“I’ve signed on for next year,” Dahlhaus, who turns 32 today, told GDFNL Media. “The body’s just held up.
“I was umming and aahing (about playing on). I said I’d probably only do one year.
“Coming to this footy club, honestly, I didn’t realise how much I’d fall in love with it; it’s been amazing.
“These boys (that) have been here for years (have) gone through the hard times, and I just want to be here for the good times.
“I feel like I’m part of the fabric and part of the family now.”
Co-captain Mason Rhodes spoke glowingly of Dahlhaus’s contribution in a season that is likely to end in Team of the Year honours and put him in contention for the Whitley Medal.
“He’s one-of-a-kind,” Rhodes said. “You never thought in a million years you’d have someone like ‘Dal’ come out (to Anakie).
“He just raises everyone around you.
“Some of the stuff he does… you just sit back and go, “What is he doing?”
“It’s amazing to get Dahlhaus here… the experience he brings, and the class he brings, and he’s a pretty good bloke as well.”
