Corio youngster Brock Cervenka has been suspended for two matches after pleading guilty to separate incidents involving an umpire.

Cerevnka appeared before the AFL Barwon Tribunal tonight (Wednesday) on charges of spitting towards an umpire and abusive language towards an umpire during the final quarter of the Devils’ loss to North Geelong at Keith Barclay Oval.

A remorseful Cervenka tendered a written apology for his actions towards umpire Sam Williams to the three-member panel of Rob Sodomaco (chair), Amanda Evans, and Greg Davies.

His guilty pleas resulted in a three-match ban for spitting being reduced to two, and the two-match sanction for abusive language was cut to one.

The tribunal has allowed Cervenka to serve the bans concurrently.

He will miss this week’s meeting with the winless Werribee Centrals and the following round’s clash with the unbeaten Belmont Lions.

Cervenka will be free to play the Round 7 match-up against Bell Post Hill.

Meanwhile, Inverleigh captain Jarrod Love has been cleared of making forceful front-on contact with Werribee Central’s Brandon Houlihan.

Love was offered a one-match holiday with an early guilty plea for an incident in the second quarter of the Hawks’ win at Galvin Park.

However, his decision to challenge has paid off, and he’s free to play in Saturday’s crucial clash with the Belmont Lions.
