Winchelsea could be without a young gun Indi Parish until after the mid-season bye after suffering a fractured elbow in the loss to Anakie.

Blues coach Ben Moloney says Parish, who sits second on the GDFNL goalkicking table with 14 for the season following his return from a season with Colac Imperials, played on against the Roos despite the damage.

“It dislocated and went back in,” Moloney said.

“To his credit, he went back out (on the ground). He’s like, ‘Well, I can’t really do any more damage,’ and he kicked two goals with a fractured elbow.

It’s probably looking like a four to six (weeks) – probably more six – which is disappointing for him because he was playing some really good footy.

“But it just opens the door for someone else to come in and fill that role.”

Parish’s injury, likely to rule him out of the GDFNL’s interleague meeting with Colac and District, wasn’t the only concern out of the loss for Winchelsea.

Captain Jordan Huff is facing a stint on the sidelines with a quad concern, while Jude Coverdale has headed overseas and will be missing until the final month of the season.

However, former skipper Alex Gubbins is a chance to return from a groin issue for an important meeting with reigning premier Thomson at Godfrey Street.

“(Thomson is) renowned in this comp for being strong and competitive,” Moloney said.

“I know Bell Post Hill took them to task on the weekend and then in the last quarter ran over them pretty strongly.

“For us, you know, we want to make sure that we start well, compete and produce a real good four-quarter performance.”
