Ex-AFL forward set for cameos with Anakie

February 21, 2024 4:20 pm in by

Former Richmond and Western Bulldogs forward Sam Lloyd looks set to pull on an Anakie jumper during 2024.

It is understood the 33-year-old, who kicked 114 goals across 89 games for the Tigers and Dogs, will make two appearances for the Roos when not playing with home club Deniliquin in the Murray League.

Lloyd is no stranger to the region after attending Geelong Grammar for the majority of his high schooling while also spending a season on the Geelong Falcons list.

He is famously remembered for a match-winning after-the-siren goal that helped Richmond to an upset win over the Sydney Swans at the MCG in 2016.

Anakie has been one of the most active local clubs when it comes to recruiting.

New coach Jayke Mawson has been able to lure former Geelong and Bulldogs start Luke Dahlhaus, and ex-AFL listed duo Andrew Boseley and Jay Lever among around 15 new faces at Anakie Reserve.
