GDFNL – AT SELECTION – ROUND 2
After negotiating last week’s reserve grade clash, Nick Flaccavento will play his first senior game in over 18 months when Bell Post Hill hosts the Belmont Lions at Myers Reserve.
Flaccavento missed last season after suffering a horrific broken leg in the Panthers’ 2023 preliminary final loss to Thomson.
He is one of two inclusions listed for Bell Post Hill, with veteran premiership forward Nick Costello also playing his first game in red and blue since 2023.
He spent last year at Great Western, kicking 59 goals in 16 games.
The Lions have settled on one change from the team that snuck past Werribee Centrals by three points in Round 1, with Lewis McDonald replacing Josh Allen.
Premiership duo Regan Kerslake and Daniel Mowat are among four inclusions for Thomson as it prepares to travel to Anakie.
The Tigers have also named former Bell Park, Grovedale and Bannockburn player Patty Knott for his first game in purple and gold.
The Roos have made five changes, with Josh Mawson (Woodville-West Torrens) to make his first appearance for the club.
However, the home team will be without off-season additions, former Essendon duo Jake Long and Jayden Davey.
Long is unavailable, while Davey is required for training with VFL club Port Melbourne.
After missing last week’s loss to the Belmont Lions, joint GDFNL leading goal-kicker Cam Saliba will play his first game of the season when Werribee Centrals clash with East Geelong at Richmond Crescent.
Saliba, who kicked 55 home-and-away goals, replaces Harley Kilbey.
The Eagles have made two changes. Noah Charman and Jacob Sobey replacing Ryan Lempa (unavailable) and Ethan McDonald.
Corio and Bannockburn have made one change apiece for their meeting at Shell Reserve.
A knee injury will sideline Josh Jelenic for a month after scans cleared him of significant damage, with former Tigers junior Brady Hercus-Quince to debut for the Devils.
Bannockburn has named young gun Ryan Perkins as the replacement for Bailey Alford (ankle).
Brayden Warren and Dan Grozdanovski have been named in the Inverleigh team for its clash with North Geelong at Inverleigh Reserve.
They will replace Harvey Bauer (unavailable) and Daniel Maher (soreness).
Former skipper Alex Gubbins will play his first game for Winchelsea since 2021 when the Blues take on Geelong West at West Oval.
Ollie Mahncke has also been included, with Josh Freemand and Brayden O’Hanlon going out of the team that defeated Inverleigh.
After being limited to just four games in 2024, Tannar Stone will play his first match for the Giants in more than 11 months.
