Bannockburn young gun Ryan Perkins is facing another extended stint on the sidelines after being injured in his return to the field.

The Geelong Falcons-listed talent suffered a fractured wrist in the Anzac Day win over Bannockburn, spending six weeks on the wrong side of the fence.

However, making his comeback in the Tigers’ AFL Barwon Division 2 clash with Grovedale at Burdoo Reserve on Saturday, Perkins damaged ankle ligaments.

Bannockburn senior coach Ron Pilgrim says Perkins is facing at least four weeks of recovery.

“I spoke to him Saturday night after the game. He’s done his ankle ligaments and might have fractured a bit of the bone,” Pilgrim said.

“It could be 4-6 (weeks), depending on his recovery and how well he goes with it.”

Pilgrim says Perkins, who played the opening three games of the Talent League season with the Falcons, was disappointed with this latest setback.

“His improvement and commitment the last 12-18 months has been out of sight,” Pilgrim said.

“He was getting the rewards until he got injured the first time.

“For this (an injury) to happen a second time, he’s pretty flat.

“The positive is he’ll get back before the end of the year and he’s still got a little bit of footy left.”
