BRANDAN Parfitt is set to be sidelined on the other side of Geelong’s bye after suffering a broken hand in Friday night’s win over the Western Bulldogs.
The Cats have confirmed the 24-year-old will undergo surgery this week, with some reports having him sidelined for up to six weeks.
“After assessment and consultation, Brandan will have surgery on his hand in the coming days to ensure the best recovery for him – short and long term,” Geelong’s head of medical services Harry Taylor said.
“Brandan’s status will be assessed post-surgery, however it is expected he will be unavailable for the short to medium term.”
Parfitt sits fifth for disposals and second tackles among Geelong players in 2022.
Meanwhile, Tom Stewart has entered the AFL’s 12-day concussion protocol after being subbed out of Friday night’s clash.
With the Cats not playing West Coast until June 18, the reigning Carji Geeves medalist – barring an issues – should be right to take on the Eagles.
