Geelong will play its elimination final next Friday, September 4, after the AFL confirmed the dates and timings.
The Cats, who finished fifth at the end of the home-and-away season, will face the lowest-ranked Wildcard Round winner – one of Collingwood, Western Bulldogs or Carlton – at the MCG, with bounce time confirmed for 7:40pm.
The Pies and the Dogs face off in the first Wildcard match on Friday night, with the Blues battling Melbourne in a twilight Saturday slot.
If Geelong can win the elimination final, it will face the loser of the Fremantle-Hawthorn qualifying final in a semi-final.
A meeting with the Dockers would likely be on Friday, September 11, at Optus Stadium, while a clash with the Hawks is set for Saturday, September 12, at the MCG, a day after the venue hosts an NFL match between the LA Rams and San Francisco 49ers.
Meanwhile, Geelong’s VFL team will host Tasmania in a qualifying final at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday.
The Cats, who claimed the minor premiership for the first time since 2013 with an impressive 16-2 record, will face the Devils for the first time since they reentered the competition this year, ahead of their AFL debut in 2028.
